When Donald Trump won in 2024, the right appeared as united as it had ever been.
After four years of the disaster that was the Joe Biden administration, everyone was ready for change.
A little over a year after Donald Trump’s inauguration, the right APPEARS to be as divided as ever.
I use the term APPEARS on purpose.
I genuinely believe that the vast majority of the division is being driven by influencers.
The truth of the matter is that right-wing influencers are all fighting amongst each other because they want to shape what comes after Trump. That has led to a lot of dooming despite the successes of the Trump administration.
That does not mean that the midterms are not a concern for Republicans. History and polling both lead us to think Republicans will lose the House in November.
Much like in 2024, however, I just can’t shake the feeling that Republicans are going to defy history and find a way to keep both the House and the Senate. In some ways, it feels like Déjà vu.
Trump had two choices when he took office. He could have taken the easy path. Secure the border, lower gas prices, make peace deals and see what the midterms brought. Instead, he chose the hard path. Not only has he begun to deliver on his campaign promises but he has taken on things that he might not politically benefit from but the United States will long term.
Trump completely reordered global trade. This was politically risky. if it backfired, Republicans would get crushed during the midterms. Inflation just hit 2.4%.
Trump ordered operations in Iran and Venezuela. If either one failed it would have destroyed his base of support. Both were a major success, although more is coming in both situations.
These are just two examples of Trump taking a path that benefits America over the safe path so many other politicians would have taken. Many things Trump is doing might not be full realized for decades.
Those decisions are the exact reason I believe Republicans will pull a rabbit out of the hat.
The economy will continue to improve. Americans will feel far better and in turn, view the administration more positively.
It should shock no-one that during time of uncertainty and change Americans would feel the way the do.
I predict two things come Summer time:
The mainstream media will continue its propaganda and much like in 2024 try and set the narrative that Republicans are done.
The doomers on the right will begin to change there tune. They understand that if Trump wins the midterms and they were claiming he wouldn’t that they would lose all credibility amongst those who follow them. To avoid this, they will claim Trump course corrected and that’s why Republicans won. Not that they were wrong from the beginning.
My advice to those following the news is simple, don’t focus on rhetoric. Don’t focus on talking points. Focus on the actions the administration is taking.
