Truflation US CPI is 1.08% today, with more rises on the horizon related to gasoline spikes.
Today, the BLS CPI also releases its February CPI, aka headline inflation.
January CPI came in at 2.4%, surprising markets to the downside, but in line with our expectations.
Today, we estimate February BLS CPI to come at 2.4%, in the middle of the current market consensus of 2.3-2.5%.
To predict the BLS CPI, we age our data and run regression analysis between the two data sets, extrapolating the potential BLS numbers.
More progress is needed but the media’s inflation being out of control narrative continues to be debunked.
